In my last few posts, I mentioned that I need recordings from a Spanish and English speaker. The Spanish speaker has sent me his recordings and I have already worked through them in order to work to find the best tokens of each specific word. I am still waiting for the English Speaker to send his. I haven’t done anything for the past week because I worked so quickly to get the Spanish Speakers’ words picked.
I have had to create this experiment out of thin air so it feels like it’s been taking forever. I think some of that is thanks to summer and the feeling of laziness that hangs over everyone during this time. It makes me feel a little guilty seeing that there are other people who are almost done with everything and I don’t even have a full experiment. My advisor said we’ll be able to continue to work on it during the fall semester which I think will be awesome.
Hopefully, the next time I post will be about the English Speaker recordings. It should be soon (cross your fingers).
Crossing my fingers for you! I know it can be discouraging when you see others’ progress, but I am sure it will keep moving. You never know, you may come away with the most fruitful discoveries and conclusions! The great thing about virtual PIRE is the work can continue on, and it sounds like your work will start to get really interesting once you have the English Speaker’s recordings.
