Finally things are getting back on track! I have had a recent surge in L2 German learners signing up! I may soon have enough to schedule a group to test! However, first I will need more L2 English learners, whose sign-up rate has stagnated. Reading everyone else’s recent blog posts, it seems that we are all still struggling somewhat to find enough participants. Finding the balance between L2 German learners and L2 English learners is especially tricky for my and Adeline’s studies since we need to schedule 6 people at a time to talk in a group. Adding in the issue of time zones makes scheduling and recruiting quite a challenge (but of course a challenge that I am willing to take on!).

Adeline and I may have to cut our group sizes down from 6 to 4 due to lack of participants. But even if we do this, I am certain that we will still have interesting data. In a meeting last week, Adeline pointed out that a group of 4 is more similar to a Zoom break-out room than a group of 6, and thus the data coming from it may be more relevant. Either way, I’m still very excited to get everything started for real! I may be able to schedule my first group as soon as Monday.
