The day is almost here! Tomorrow I will be testing my first batch of participants and I couldn’t be more excited! Still, I can’t help being a little nervous that something will go wrong. This, however, is where conducting research is such an amazing experience. No two trials can ever be conducted identically, let alone perfectly. That said, with only 24 hours left to get my ducks in a row, I am reviewing my protocol yet again. Practice might not make perfect, but it certainly can’t hurt!
I am really looking forward to not only collecting data, but processing it. Once I have Zoom recordings to work with, I’ll be able to use a classroom mapping program to analyze participants’ interactions with one another. It will be very interesting to learn how to use such an unusual program. I am not what you would call a tech person, so working with a mapping program will be a novel experience for me. I feel like PIRE is just getting started and I am already learning so much!
Hi Adeline! I hope everything went well! I felt the same way before conducting my first trial, but I know we are all so prepared and also don’t forget that our participants do not expect us to be perfect. They know we are human too 🙂
Hi Adeline,
I hope your day of testing your first participants is going well! That program that you described working with after to analyze participant interactions sounds really cool! I have not heard of something like that before, so I am sure it will be a great experience. It is good to hear that you have found enough participants. I will be working to recruit mine next week and am nervous to get started after hearing of some struggles with this, but this gave me hope!
