It was a sad week with Marlen leaving the lab to go back to the States:/ Although it was bittersweet, it made me realize what little time I now had left and quite literally the next day, Daisy and I booked everything we could think of that he hadn’t done in Krakow haha.
This past weekend, I was able to stay with a friend in Florence! While it was relaxing, my trip down was certainly a story. So, my flight to Bologna got delayed almost two hours and I already had a tight connection to my bus so there was no way I was going to make it. Public transport wasn’t open when I landed so I had to hail a taxi and get a ride to the nearest bus station where I almost got TURNED AWAY. Did I pull the sad girl traveler who didn’t know what she was doing card? Maybe. Needless to say, I got on the bus. But just when I thought I was in the clear, I was dropped off at a bus station AN HOUR AND A HALF from the center. My phone was on 10%, there were no outlets, and it was 2AM and the last tram had left at 1:30AM. I was not having a good time. I quickly wrote the train schedule on my hand before my phone died because the next tram wasn’t going to come until 4:35AM and there were no taxis where I was. With quite literally nothing to do and being by myself, I thought that maybe if I just walked along the road I could grab a ride (wishful thinking, I know). After an hour of walking, THERE WAS A CAR! You already know I ran into the middle of the street waving them down and they did offer me a ride and I got to my friend’s place around 3:30AM. Absolute chaos, would not recommend, but definitely a good story to tell. Florence was very hot, but beautiful nonetheless and I already miss it…
Just 1 1/2 weeks left in Poland! Crazy how time flies.
