The third week of being in Mexico City! This week presented my PIRE projects. I was really never because it was the first time I had the chance to tell other about what I was doing. I presented my work and have a very detail disussion with everyone. I am glad that the UNAM Psycholinguistics lab and my lab partners were able to see what I spent so much time on. It was gratifying seeing my hard work appreciated by others. Moreover, running my study has been very successful. I was able to run 9 participants. It was nice receiving feedback for my study and seeing different ways my results can go. I hope in the upcoming weeks the level of interest for my study grows 🙂
Although many of us were in the lab for most o the week, we still found time to do more fun stuff. Every night we try to share dinner together which is something I really appreciate. I love the bond we have been able to create these past few weeks, Moreover, we tried new restaurants. Our new favorite is a close, Indian restaurant that serve amazing food. Living in such a grand city, it’s nice to find authentic food from other cultures. This hidden gem offered us great food and was super welcoming. I hope we can find more of these gems throughout our time here.
Even though our food hunting has been spectacular, we have also found some great excursions throughout the city. First we went to an escape room of my selection. We anticipated that the Jurassic park room would be the least scary, but there were still some creepy moments. Also the room had the highest difficulty, so it was very hard to manage the escape. Even though we couldn’t escape it was an amazing experience and we created some great memories there. We also went to the CDMX Zoo. The zoo was quite large with so many exhibits. My favorite was the panda names Xin Xin. Although she was sleeping for most of the time, she did manage to stretch and amaze the crowd. Considering that Xin Xin is the last giant panda in Latin America, it was super cool to have the opportunity to lay a glimpse on such a beautiful creature
This week was full of so much excitement and I can’t wait for more to come. It is also sad that we are almost at our halfway mark. I can’t imagine not living in this wonderful city anymore.
Eslayamos ! (Our wonderful affirmation/cheer we created)
