I’ve been in Mexico for 6 weeks ! , and I feel like I’ve made significant progress in terms of my language and cultural development, as well as my research. We’ve past the halfway point, and I am sort of sad to see that our time here is about to be over. Speaking of my research, I’ve successfully conducted my experiment with 26 total participants, which is a rewarding outcome after putting in so much hard work. While I’ve achieved my goal of having 20 L1 participants, I only have 6 L2 participants. Since finding participants for my L2 study has been a bit challenging and my time here is nearing an end, my PI and I have decided to focus on analyzing my data. I am excited to run my phonetic task through PRATT and comparing my results from Mexico City to Granada.

This week has been filled with exploring various attractions in the city. One notable place we visited was Frida Kahlo’s Museum in Coyoacán. where I had the opportunity to immerse myself in her artwork and legacy. I bought some cool souvenirs such as t-shirts and clothing patches. Moreover, we were able to hangout with a lot of our new friends we made here in Mexico City. I am so happy and grateful that were able to connect with others here and create a lasting-meaningful connection with so many other people. I am going to miss them so much when we have to leave.

In conclusion, I am happy to delve deeper into analyzing my study and continue unraveling the wonders of this beautiful city. The experiences and discoveries I’ve had so far have been truly remarkable.

Eslayamos! (Our wonderful affirmation/cheer we created)
