Well, these last weeks got a little crazy and I completely lost track of time. Therefore, I’m writing a double post in this one to update on the last two weeks of events.
First things first, everything in the lab has been running very smoothly. I’ve continued to run many participants the last couple of weeks and am very excited that I am close to meeting my goal in the days to come! I did have a couple of participants miss their appointments during week five; however, this has not been a large issue for me aside from a few times. I’ve been very lucky with that. Along with participants, I just completed my lab presentation yesterday as well. I spent a lot of time throughout the week creating my PowerPoint and practicing my presentation. I’m glad to say that it went really well, and it was exciting to be able to share my project with the other students and professors in the lab here. I got some great questions and feedback on my project that I feel will be very helpful going forward while I analyze data!
We also did some major exploring and planning almost every day that we had the opportunity. We revisited the Castillo at Chapultepec, found an amazing park close to our apartment, made new friends, and went to the Frida Kahlo Museum at the Casa Azul. Around the park, there are many little shops and restaurants that we visited where we were able to buy some really neat souvenirs to bring home. That park is also right next to Casa Azul, which was beautiful to visit. I would highly recommend taking the trip to see it if you are ever in Mexico City! It was a short visit, as we just walked around the rooms of the house where they had different paintings, furniture, and items owned by Friday Kahlo. However, the decorations and style of the area were amazing to witness. The most exciting part of it all, though, may actually be the fact that we all made the decision to try crickets yesterday. Here in Mexico, they sell them in some restaurants and even on the street. They cover them in lime juice, salt, and some kind of salsa. Believe it or not… they’re amazing! I hope we see and are able to get some more while we’re here.
This sounds like a really fun couple of weeks, and I’m glad to hear you’re close to meeting your goal! It’s also so cool you got to try crickets, they sound really good with that seasoning!
