I cannot believe the fifth week in Nijmegen has already passed! This week, we had a relatively busy week with running participants. We were worried that people would not sign up due to finals week, but we have had great luck with participation that is bringing us closer to our goal. A few days ago, we noticed that almost 30 people signed up for part one of our study over the span of 24 hours, so we were very excited to see so many new participants. However, we figured out that they were either bots or people making fake accounts to sign up for studies. Hopefully we can find more (and real!) participants for the remaining weeks. I spent the weekend with my family in Voorthuizen, which is a small town where my grandpa, aunt, and uncle live. My parents are currently in the Netherlands visiting family, so I met up with them, my cousin, my other uncle, and my sister in Voorthuizen. On Friday, we chatted over a nice dinner and played our favorite card game. On Saturday, the other PIRE students came to visit and we went on a 42 kilometer bike ride! The nice part about riding a bike in the Netherlands is that it is very flat, which makes biking a marathon much easier. We made sure to plan breaks in the route for some rest, and we all made it back in one piece! After our bike ride, we went back to my aunt and uncles house and replenished our bodies with some Dutch cheese and various snacks (like bitterballen). We also ate broodjes shoarma and salads for dinner and spent the rest of the evening chatting. On Sunday it was fathers day, so my cousin and I made a strawberry kwark cake (it was delicious!) and we watched the Nations League with the whole family. It was a great week and I am looking forward to next week!
