Hi all 🙂

I absolutely cannot believe these 8 weeks have gone by so fast. This has been such an impactful experience. This trip allowed me to interact with so many new people, places, and cultures. Looking back there has been many ups and downs, but I wouldn’t change a single thing. I am truly grateful for having the opportunity to partake in this experience.

As far as research goes, in the end, I was able to collect a total of 26 participants to do my two research tasks. This included 20 L1 speakers and 6 TL speakers. although I wish that I had more TL speaker, I still feel great about the data I was able to collect from both groups. I have started analyzing the data, and it is so interesting seeing the various linguistic phenomenons occur. My understanding of the topics have been able to develop as I took what I learned ni the best two semesters and apply it to the research and tasks that Ive been doing in CDMX. Overall, I am excited to continue analyzing more of the research and beginning to emphasize the importance of the linguistic phenomenon through my essay.

Moreover, Mexico City was truly an amazing place. There was so many fun excursions and activities. I think one of my favorite moments was our boat ride in Xochimilco. I grew up watching so many videos about it and it was amazing to finally see it in-person. My favorite moment was riding past the paranormal Doll Island. I also loved connecting with the members of my trip. At first I was hesitant because is can be more of a  reserved person, so it can be hard to make friends in situations like this. But, I am truly grateful to had been able to share this experience with such awesome people. I am also so happy to have made so many friends and connections with people we met in Mexico City. Everyone was so genuine and kind and hope to see us again whenever we come back to CDMX.

In the end it was an awesome, successful trip. I am grateful for all the people that made it happen, and I hope to use this experience inn my future endeavors.
