My weeks here are starting to wind down, but the adventures continue! We were able to run a bunch of participants last week, and as of right now we have enough sign-ups to get us to 31 participants! We are hoping to get a few more if we can as the week goes on, but at least we will get to 30 (as long as everyone shows up). In addition, we have started analyzing some of our data, and our results look really good and consistent so far, which is awesome; I cannot wait to see how it looks once it is all in. On Monday, we attended our final multilingualism meeting with the other linguistic professors in the department, which was very interesting but also sad because it signifies that our trip is coming to an end. This week we will meet with our advisor for the final time, which will also be bitter-sweet because she has been a fantastic guide ever since we arrived.
As for fun, on Friday we went to a soccer tournament at the university in which teams from the CLS departments from all over the Netherlands got together to verse eachother. The weather was so nice, and the games were very interesting to watch. In the end, we even made some friends on our team and ended up going out with them later too! Then, we spent Saturday exploring the beaches in other small towns in the Netherlands. It was super warm and sunny, and I definitely got a little color while laying out (unfortunately it was more red than tan, though). On Sunday I spent the day in Amsterdam with one of the other students, and we ended up going on a peddle boat in one of the canals. The views and experience was incredible and although we got lost a few times and almost got ran over by much bigger boats, we made it back unscathed! Finally, we ended the day with a picnic in the park with my Penn State advisor, who is my friends mom, and her other daughter. It was such a great experience and a fantastic way to spend my last full weekend here! Unfortunately, I could not get any pictures while I was out on the water, but the views were amazing (just take my word for it).
