Bienvenido a San Juan!!! This first week has been such a blast! The trip itself started off a little rough with our first flight being delayed causing us to have an 8-hour layover in Newark but we made the most of it and had a good travel day. We arrived in San Juan at midnight so didn’t get to see as much of the city as I had expected, but we went to the store and our Airbnb and had a really great time. Our first couple days were getting used to our new home and location. We got to get a tour of the university and learn where we were going to have our studies take place. The university is beautiful and has a lot of character to it. We went to print our flyers and hang them up on day 4. It was a bit more of a task than we thought it would be, but we got it eventually.

We have gone to the beach so far and old San Juan which is a must see if you ever come here. The beach is so beautiful, I have never seen water so clear, and we got to join a group of elderly ladies who were dancing in the ocean. Old San Juan has so many cats and other animals! I saw my first ever iguana in the wild and it was huge. We have had so many new foods and tried so many things! My favorite so far was a burger that was made up of pulled pork and all kinds of sauces. SO GOOD!  We also tried a typical Puerto Rican dessert named un quesito which is a pastry with cream cheese in the middle and it was delicious, I can’t wait to eat more of them. It is definitely very hot and humid here which has been a bit of an adjustment that still hasn’t set in yet for me, but it has been so much fun nonetheless.
