I cannot believe we’ve been here for a whole month but it’s so sad to think about the fact that were just a few weeks into leaving. Like I said in my previous blog, participants are starting to show less often due to the fact that finals are going on and it’s the end of the semester. It’s also been very gloomy and rainy lately, clearly a sign that Nijmegen is also sad that our departure is soon.
Even though the weather has not been the best, me and Ceci decided that we have to make the most out of our last few weeks so went on a walk to this park and it was beautiful. It reminded me a lot of the arboretum, with all the beautiful flowers, the ponds, people walking around and just enjoying nature. Nijmegen is full of trees and parks, ad every park is full of people just laying down reading a book, playing with their friends and family or just spending some alone time.
Also, we have been craving Hispanic food for the longest – I’m getting a little over Dutch food – so we just randomly looked up for Latin American restaurants in Nijmegen without hope of finding anything. Turns out there is one, and it’s called ” A Taste of Home” and it’s a Colombian restaurant. The minute we got there I most definitely felt at home, with the music in the background being in Spanish, the menu in Spanish with dishes I have missed, and our waitress speaking in Spanish. The food was delicious; therefore, I have found my new favorite food spot, I’m going back for sure.
Mavel,
It’s amazing how time flies! Despite the gloomy weather, it’s great to hear that you’re making the most of your last few weeks by exploring beautiful parks. Discovering “A Taste of Home” must have been such a delightful surprise, bringing a comforting touch of Hispanic culture to your PIRE experience. I hope you are able to enjoy your last few weeks and cherish these moments!
