In the last few days of my mom’s visit, they took us to La Parguera bioluminescent bay in Lajas, where the water contains microorganisms that glow when agitated. It was so dark in the lagoon you could see the stars, which already made for an impressive experience to me, and when I paddled in the water and shook my hands, it created sparkly bubbles! It was super cool and peaceful and I felt less afraid that I had anticipated, swimming around in the dark. 🫧
We had dinner in the little group of restaurants along the shore after swimming in the biobay, and I took the cutest photo to-date of a kitty that came up to me asking for food and head rubs! 😻

We also went back to a really good Spanish restaurant nearby, and brought my mom, her friend, and our new roommate, Jessica this time. Our waiter was very nice and recommended me an off-menu steak dish with onions and plantains and it was delicious.
On Sunday, Cat and I went to the mall to visit a T-Mobile store about our hotspots, and afterwards we decided to stay at the mall and go shopping! I finally got to try on clothes outside of the sticky, humid heat (which was a constant obstacle when we were thrift shopping) and in fitting rooms with light and mirrors, which made it a lot easier to actually consider buying something. I put together a very fun outfit with two pieces that just happened to be hanging on the 20% off rack, and I really love it. 🍊
We tried a new coffee shop near the train station on a day when we had several sessions scheduled. They sell tea in tiny styrofoam cups with a straw poked through the lid and sandwiches like your mom would make in ziplock bags with the best cheese ever. 🥪
It turns out our recruitment flyer was shared on a Facebook page associated with the university, but before we found out about that, we were shocked by a huge wave of new survey entries (30 in three days!!) despite not being able to find many people to recruit after summer classes began. We doubled down on scheduling and have eight sessions planned for this week (three back-to-back on Monday and Thursday). If we continue at this rate, achieving our goal will certainly be possible! 😁

Yesterday after dancing I stood out on our front porch waiting for the rain (we’ve had a dry week). When it came, it really cooled me off, and I enjoyed it very much. I’ve been missing the rain 🌧
