Please note that reviewers may reject submissions if the written product shows exceedingly poor grammar or structure. For this reason, all papers and presentations—especially those written by non-native English speakers—should be proofread or copyedited prior to submission.

Paper Awards

Papers present reports of significant work or integrative reviews in research, development, and applications. All presented papers will be considered by the Program Committee for Outstanding Paper Awards. There will also be an award for Outstanding Student Paper (therefore, please indicate with your submission if the primary author is a full-time student).

The CELDA 2018 conference aims to address the main issues concerned with evolving learning processes and supporting pedagogies and applications in the digital age. There have been advances in both cognitive psychology and computing that have affected the educational arena. The convergence of these two disciplines is increasing at a fast pace and affecting academia and professional practice in many ways. Paradigms such as just-in-time learning, constructivism, student-centered learning and collaborative approaches have emerged and are being supported by technological advancements such as simulations, virtual reality and multi-agents systems. These developments have created both opportunities and areas of serious concerns. This conference aims to cover both technological as well as pedagogical issues related to these developments.

18th Distance Library Services Conference

The deadline for submitting Paper Presentation proposals for the 18th Distance Library Services Conference is this Sunday, April 23!

The conference will be held April 11-13, 2018, in downtown San Antonio, TX, at the Hyatt Regency San Antonio, right off of the famed Riverwalk.

What is a Paper Presentation? The Paper Presentation format requires that you write a paper and then present at the conference. Your paper will be published in both the conference proceedings and later in special issues of the Journal of Library & Information Services in Distance Learning. Your presentation is an opportunity to share issues, findings or conclusions related to your paper.

The average attendance for the past three conferences was 273, so in addition to your paper being published in the Journal of Library & Information Services in Distance Learning, you will benefit by presenting at a smaller, focused conference with ample networking opportunities.

Proposals should fall into one of three general tracks:

Panel Discussion

Proposals from those who would like to facilitate a panel discussion are welcomed. The proposals may address any of the topics falling within the scope of the conference themes. Panel Discussions provide an opportunity for public discussion amongst a selected group of panelists. Central to the success of a panel discussion is the choice of a good topic as the focus for discussion and panellists who bring differing perspectives and are confident in making clear arguments in a live situation. Panels should comprise of three to five scholars who present their arguments; a discussant offers critical comment on the arguments made and the discussion is opened up to the participating audience. The proposal must include:

  • Title

  • Panel Chair(s) (if necessary)

  • Speaker(s) Name, Affiliation and Email

  • Scope

  • Objective and motivation

The i-Society 2016 will set aside space for those who wish to pursue discussion of a particular topic or issue. Interested individuals should submit a proposal not more than 400 words, on or before July 31, 2016. In addition, the proposal should indicate the duration of the panel discussion (preferred duration is 90 minutes). All accepted Panel Discussion proposal will be published in the Conference Proceedings. If you are interested in organising Panel Discussion for the i-Society 2016, please email your proposal to the pandis@i-society.eu. Submissions should be in MS Word format.

Virtual Presentation (Video Conferencing)

We understand that some presenters will not be able to make the trip to London to present their research paper, case study, work in progress and report, mainly due to financial and/or political restrictions on travel. The i-Society 2016 has therefore instituted a virtual presentation system to allow the authors of accepted papers the same publication opportunities as regular presenters. A research works submitted without the participant attending the Conference in person, but presented via video conferencing are refereed and published (if accepted) in the conference proceedings. You can submit a research paper, case study, work in progress and report for virtual presentation under the open call for papers via email to papers@i-society.eu

Scope

Successfully deploying multimedia services and applications in mobile environments requires adopting an interdisciplinary approach where multimedia, networking and physical layer issues are addressed jointly. Content features analysis and coding, media access control, multimedia flow and error control, cross-layer optimization, Quality of Experience (QoE), media cloud as well as mobility management and security protocols are research challenges that need to be carefully examined when designing new mobile media architectures. We also need to put a great effort in designing applications that take into account the way the user perceives the overall quality of the provided service.

Within this scope, MobiMedia is intended to provide a unique international forum for researchers from industry and academia, working on multimedia coding, mobile communications and networking fields, to study new technologies, applications and standards. Original unpublished contributions are solicited that can improve the knowledge and practice in the integrated design of efficient technologies and the relevant provision of advanced mobile multimedia applications.

The event is endorsed by the European Alliance for Innovation, a leading community-based organisation devoted to the advancement of innovation in the field of ICT.

Papers will be judged on originality, correctness, clarity and relevance. Submitted papers must be original work, and may not be under consideration for another conference or journal. Submission of the paper implies agreement of the author(s) to attend the conference and present the paper if accepted. Full details of submission procedures are available here.

–      Papers should be in English.

–      Regular papers should be up to 10 pages in length.

–      Short papers should be up to 6 pages in length.

–      Previously published work may not be submitted, nor may the work be concurrently submitted to any other conference or journal. Such papers will be rejected without review.
